The Vivat Organ festival, which has been held since 2010 in Český Krumlov, one of the oldest towns in the Czech Republic, consists of concerts given by outstanding organ interpreters, most of them Czech. The concerts include both solo performances and various chamber formations including concertos with orchestra accompaniment. The genius loci of the town, together with the remarkable range of instruments available there, which deserve to be played by maestros, make it the ideal place for these creative organ masterworks.
The name Krumlov was first mentioned in 1253 on the list of the Moravian Margrave of Austria and Styria Duke Otakar, the future King Přemysl Otakar II. Other written records of the town date from 1309, which refers to the charter of Henry I of Rosenberg. The historical centre of Český Krumlov was listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992.
The festival is organized by the civic organization Czech Culture.
